Oil is the world’s most sought-after resource. It is also the dirtiest, both for the environment and for humanity.

In his February 1, 2006 State of the Union address, G.W. Bush admitted that “America is addicted to oil” and vowed to boost research for alternative fuels with a 22% funding increase.
This powerful idea was considered ironic by many commentators, as “overall federal funding for research and development in energy efficiency has declined 14 percent since 2002, adjusted for inflation.”(1)
